On our way to the highest peak in Sør-Trøndelag (Storskrymten 1985m), Camilla Ringvold and I went for Snøhetta on the way. Snøhetta with its 2286m above sea level is the highest peak in Dovrefjell, and was for a long time thought to be the highest mountain in Norway. That would be Galdhøpiggen (2469m) in Jotunheimen mountainrange, but Snøhetta is with that the highest peak outside Jotunheimen.
It became a long journey as Camilla started out in Oslo, myself in Hemsedal, before we met up at Otta. From there we drove to Hjerkinn and began out trip on bikes. We then left the bikes close to Snøheim, and continued to Snøhetta. We were on top at 20:30 in the evening and had the most wonderful sunset skiing down to Åmotdalshytta. There we were met by 4 others, one of them being Tor, a guy I almost thought worked there! He warmed up the classic Norwegian lapskaus (stew) at 23:00, and told us to get set in our room. How nice! Two of the others, Rune & Øystein, had been at Storskrymten that same day - and we were delighted to get some details about the route!
Thanks for a fun day Camilla! ;)
